Timely and Incident-Free Completion of HELMS’ First Campaign for 2025
Bintulu, 27 January 2025 – Helms Geomarine Sdn Bhd (HELMS) is proud to announce the successful completion of its first soil boring operation of the year, conducted for platform foundation design in offshore Sarawak, Malaysia, on behalf of Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd (PETRONAS).
This achievement underscores the importance of meticulous planning and seamless coordination. The joint Project Team from HELMS and PETRONAS proactively monitored weather patterns weeks in advance to identify an optimal weather window, ensuring operations could be conducted efficiently and safely.
The project entailed drilling boreholes with CPT in situ testing to 150 meters deep in water depths of 120 meters. To ensure operational excellence, HELMS’ Operations Team diligently carried out maintenance and preparatory works on the Keyfield Helms 1 ahead of mobilization, minimizing the risk of unforeseen downtime during the critical weather window.
Commencing on Wednesday, the operation proceeded flawlessly. By Sunday, all fieldwork was completed, and the team successfully returned to Bintulu Port on Monday, achieving zero operational downtime and maintaining an impeccable safety record.
This campaign marks HELMS’ first accomplishment of 2025 and solidifies a four-year track record of successful collaborations with PETRONAS. With a long-term contract extending until 2029, HELMS remains committed to strengthening its partnership with PETRONAS, leveraging valuable lessons and insights gained from past campaigns to drive future success.
