HELMS Soil Testing Laboratory Receives ISO/IEC 17025 Accreditation
Kuala Lumpur, 15 October 2024 – Helms Geomarine Sdn Bhd (HELMS) Soil Testing Laboratory has been accredited with ISO/IEC 17025, a globally recognized international standard for testing and calibration laboratories, from Standards Malaysia.
This accreditation demonstrates that the laboratory is operating competently and generating valid results, thereby promoting confidence to the Clients, both nationally and around the world.
The ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation also signifies that HELMS Soil Testing Laboratory, located in Wangsa Maju, Kuala Lumpur, meets the highest standards for competence in the testing of offshore soil samples acquired, especially for its local Malaysian projects.
By implementing in-house testing in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation, HELMS is able to reduce the lead time of Engineering Reports delivery to meet the demanding project requirements.

HELMS’ Soil Testing Laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and is staffed by highly qualified engineers and technicians.
Initially launched in September 2023, the laboratory underwent significant developments, starting with the implementation of ISO 17025 designs and procedures in December 2023. This move aimed to maintain the highest standards of quality control and enhance the efficiency of soil testing.
Towards this end, the laboratory is equipped to perform a wide range of classification tests, shear strength tests and compressibility tests, to ensure delivery of reliable soil testing data for our Clients.
With its ISO 17025 accreditation, HELMS is well-positioned to meet the growing demand for soil testing services in Malaysia and potentially the surrounding region, in support of the increasing oil & gas exploration and offshore windfarm development projects.
