Taipei, 15 October 2018 – Having completed 32 boreholes at Yun Lin’s wind-farm site this year amid the harsh sea and weather conditions in offshore Taiwan, HELMS is set to continue to support its local partner EGS Corporation Taiwan (“EGST”) for the next year’s 2019 campaign. This has been the spirit of the 3-year contract signed early this year between HELMS and EGST.
The geotechnical vessel Patra Offshore has been utilised by EGST for this year’s scope of works, inclusive of soil boring, sampling, PCPT and PS logging in waterdepth of up to 50m and depth penetration of 80m below seabed.
For next year’s program at a new wind-farm concession, the scope will be quite similar but HELMS is confident the vessel will be better prepared with the enhancement of the mooring system of the geotechnical drilling vessel.
Following the increase in project workloads for the Renewable’ site investigation over the next few years in Taiwan, HELMS is seriously considering to offer EGST with a second geotechnical vessel to be mobilised latest by May 2019.
