Temerloh, 10 December 2019 – Helms Geomarine Sdn Bhd (HELMS) officially opens its new storage yard and workshop in Temerloh, state of Pahang, Malaysia. A simple ceremony attended by the company staff from the Kuala Lumpur (KL) office was officiated by the Managing Director, Dato’ Ir. Helmi Zulkawi.
Approximately an hour’s drive away from the KL office, the storage yard boasts a 2-acre land area with a 10,000 square feet covered area for the workshop and storage of specialized equipment. The workshop facilities includes an air-conditioned portable building as well as basic metal works capabilities such as fabrication and welding. Maintenance of spare machinery such as mud pumps, generators and power packs are also performed at this facility.
Apart from the spare machinery, HELMS’ seabed sampling and testing equipment such as the Neptune 5000 Seabed CPT and a newly built KS-VS 440 Vibrocorer will also be stored and maintained here in between projects.
Additional drilling rigs and downhole CPT units for future ventures will also be stored and assembled at the yard prior to mobilising onboard vessels. The other remaining equipment currently kept at the yard in Johor will eventually be moved here.
Strategic Assets Manager, Nazrin Ridhwan said, “In the past the Group used to have storage and maintenance yards in Singapore and at a few places in Malaysia. Instead of renting, this time HELMS decided to have its own yard which would bring the costs down and logistically more efficient due to its more convenient location.”
The new yard which is located right in the centre of the Peninsular Malaysia provides an easy and quick access for goods to be transported via the connecting highways to and from the East Coast (Kuantan or Kemaman), West Coast (Port Klang) and South (Pasir Gudang or Tanjung Pelepas) ports.
