HELMS Kickstarts 2023 with Completion of its Third Campaign for PTTEP in South East Asia
Bintulu, 15 January 2023 – Helms Geomarine Sdn Bhd (HELMS) has recently completed the geotechnical fieldworks at Nangka-2 exploration well in Block 417, offshore Sarawak for PTTEP HK Offshore Limited (PTTEP HKO), ahead of schedule. The scope was for pilot hole drilling for shallow gas, geotechnical drilling for sampling and various in-situ testing as well as engineering reporting for jack-up rig entries, with the fieldwork initially scheduled for completion in late January 2023 considering it was still monsoon season.
The project for PTTEP HKO utilized the dedicated DP2 geotechnical vessel Keyfield Helms 1 (formerly Keyfield Helms) that was also previously used to undertake several geotechnical campaigns for PETRONAS in Malaysia. Following the completion of this campaign for PTTEP HKO, a series of back-to-back campaigns are planned throughout this year for PETRONAS and SHELL with the Keyfield Helms 1 currently mobilizing for its first SHELL campaign in 2023.
Syahril Ikhwan, General Manager, said, “We are delighted with the successful completion of the fieldwork at Nangka-1 field as not only this is our first opportunity to perform work outside PETRONAS and SHELL in Malaysia, but also this marks our third involvement with a PTTEP Group in the region – having previously performed similar services to PTTEP units in Thailand and Myanmar. With our proven track records, we are looking forward to engaging on more offshore geotechnical projects with PTTEP group in many years to come.”
HELMS, a Malaysian company with 12 years of international group track records, currently holds long term contracts with PETRONAS, SHELL and PTTEP. At the same time, in the Renewable Energy sector, HELMS has been providing offshore geotechnical services to support the Offshore Windfarm Development with past and ongoing projects in Taiwan, Korea and Japan.
