HELMS Delivers its First 2023 Campaign for SHELL in Sarawak

Bintulu, 13 February 2023 – Helms Geomarine Sdn Bhd (HELMS) has just completed a geotechnical investigation campaign in offshore Sarawak, Malaysia for Sarawak Shell Berhad (SHELL).

The project, known as F6VLAP, involved a shallow gas pilot hole drilling as well as a number of soil sampling and PCPTs to a maximum of 95 metres below seabed for jackup entry and platform foundation assessment.

Syahril Ikhwan, General Manager, said, “We have performed similar projects for SHELL back in 2021 and 2022. However, this campaign is the first project performed under a new long-term contract with SHELL, awarded last year in 2022. We are also delighted that with the latest safe completion of this project, this enhances our company’s HSE milestone by delivering over one million safe manhours without lost time injury (LTA).”

The Keyfield Helms 1 geotechnical vessel had earlier completed another geotechnical campaign in Sarawak for PTTEP HKO and is planned to be actively operating in Sarawak and Sabah waters this year.

Meanwhile, HELMS have also just remobilized its geotechnical team onboard the DP2 Azuma (renamed from VOS Shine) to perform the second phase of its current ongoing campaign in offshore Chiba, Japan.
