HELMS Completed Seabed CPT Survey for Submarine Power Cable in Thailand

Koh Samui, 20 September 2024 – Helms Geomarine Sdn Bhd (HELMS) has successfully finished an offshore geotechnical survey for the new submarine power cable linking Ao Khanom to Koh Samui Island.

Commissioned by MVM Survey Thailand, the survey utilized the advanced Datem Neptune 5000 system on the non-motorized barge Semsuk 6. Over a week, the team investigated 15 sites, achieving penetration depths of up to 112.8 meters.

The collected data will aid in assessing the foundation for the proposed submarine power cable and aligns well with previous seismic tests by the Geomarine Science Research Authority. This achievement marks a significant step forward in the Khanom-Samui infrastructure project.

HELMS is a leading Malaysian offshore geotechnical company specializing in surface drilling and seabed technologies, including Seabed CPT and piston coring, servicing both the Oil and Gas and Windfarm industries.
