Taichung, 22 September 2021 – Using the DP2 geotechnical survey vessel, Dolphin Geo Survey, Helms Geomarine Sdn Bhd (HELMS) has completed a sizeable geotechnical campaign in Taiwan despite the adverse weather and vessel technical issues at the early stage of the project.
The project timing and crew movement were also severely affected by the stringent COVID-19 pandemic strict movement control order imposed by the Taiwanese government, preventing an appropriate crew change scheduling.
This offshore geotechnical investigation campaign comprised of CPTu tests, high-quality undisturbed sampling and suspension P-S logging in boreholes of 100 meters each below seabed. The data will enable the optimization of foundation design for this prestigious wind farm development.
HELMS wishes to convey its utmost gratitude to the Client for the continuous support and assistance to ensure the completion of the project. A hats off to all the drilling and marine crew onboard the Dolphin Geo Survey for their dedication and hard work in ensuring the project completion to the satisfaction of the ultimate client, Taipower.
“This is the fourth year for HELMS in providing geotechnical drilling services in Taiwan and we hope to go back again next year for more,” says the Managing Director, Helmi Zulkawi.
Besides the Dolphin Geo Survey, HELMS now operates a second DP2 geotechnical survey vessel called the Keyfield Helms primarily to serve the local contracts in Malaysia with PETRONAS.
