HELMS Completed a Series of Campaigns in East and West Malaysia for PETRONAS
Kemaman, 15 May 2023 – Helms Geomarine Sdn Bhd (HELMS) has once again demonstrated its expertise in the offshore geotechnical industry by successfully completing back-to- back drilling campaigns for jack-up entries at Bijan, Bokor E in Sarawak and Anding in Terengganu waters. A remarkable highlight was the successful drilling operation over a sloping seabed up to 50 degrees inclination next to a live oil platform at Bokor E location due to previous jack up spudcan footprints.
The geotechnical vessel, Keyfield Helms 1 is equipped with the HG-30 marine drill kit and is capable of carrying out various types of geotechnical surveys below seabed, including adjacent to existing offshore structures. It sailed to Kemaman after completing the Sarawak work scopes to undertake the geotechnical campaign at Anding field as part of the planned continuous projects for PETRONAS in 2023.
With confirmed projects at least until Q1 2024, the Keyfield Helms 1 is expected to be actively working in Malaysian waters for the upcoming months ahead. However, the company is not resting on its laurels and is bidding for numerous other projects, including in Myanmar, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, to expand its area of operation within the region.
General Manager, Syahril Ikhwan said “The successful completion of consecutive geotechnical campaigns gives assurance to our clients on the commitment of HELMS in providing safe and high-quality services. Overall, HELMS’ ability to successfully navigate the challenges of offshore geotechnical drilling campaigns with minimal to zero equipment downtimes is a testament to the strength of our management, operation and supply chain support systems.”
