Unveiling the Keyfield Itqan, Strengthening HELMS’ Regional Offshore Geotechnical Expansion
Pasir Gudang, 26 May 2026 – HELMS Geomarine Sdn Bhd (HELMS) has successfully mobilised the DP2 offshore geotechnical survey vessel, the Keyfield Itqan, further strengthening HELMS’ growing offshore geotechnical survey capability across Southeast Asia.
The Malaysian-flagged 75m x 20m vessel is equipped with moonpool, 4-point mooring system, four positioning reference systems and HELMS’ latest HG-50 offshore geotechnical drilling rig, rated to 80-tons, capable of handling up to 1,200 meters of API drill pipes.
The addition of Keyfield Itqan significantly enhances HELMS’ capability to execute both DP2 and 4-point mooring geotechnical operations in both shallow water and deepwater offshore developments, providing greater operational flexibility for increasingly complex offshore projects throughout the region.
Operated entirely by a 100% Malaysian marine and geotechnical crew, Keyfield Itqan reflects HELMS’ continued commitment towards strengthening local offshore technical capability and supporting Malaysia’s participation in higher-value offshore energy services.
Keyfield Itqan will join Keyfield Helms 1 to support the increasing number of decommissioning works in offshore Sarawak, performing soil investigation for the purpose of jackup rig entry, to carry out the plug and abandonment activities for PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd (PCSB). Thereafter, the vessel will move on to support other local and regional Clients, covering both shallow and deepwater scope of works.
Managing Director, Dato’ Ir. Mohamad Helmi Zulkawi said “As offshore developments move into deeper and increasingly complex environments, clients require contractors with proven capability, operational readiness and reliable execution capacity. Keyfield Itqan strengthens our ability to support concurrent offshore campaigns while maintaining operational flexibility and service continuity across the region.”
The continued expansion of HELMS’ offshore fleet further reinforces HELMS’ growing presence within the regional offshore geotechnical and marine site survey market as the company positions itself for long-term growth and future capital market aspirations.
