HELMS Successfully Completes SHELL Campaign in Offshore Sarawak Safely and Ahead of Schedule

Bintulu, 26 May 2026 – Helms Geomarine Sdn Bhd (HELMS) is pleased to announce the successful completion of the offshore geotechnical investigation campaign for Sarawak Shell Berhad (SHELL) in offshore Sarawak.

Executed onboard the DP2 geotechnical survey vessel, the Keyfield Helms 1, the campaign was completed safely, efficiently and ahead of schedule, further demonstrating HELMS’ operational capability and commitment towards safe project delivery within Malaysia’s offshore energy sector.

The scope included soil boring, seabed sampling and downhole Cone Penetration Test (CPT) operations for platform installation and jack-up entry locations, together with seabed CPT investigations for mudmat foundation assessment utilizing HELMS’ Neptune 5000 Seabed CPT system.

Throughout the campaign, the offshore crew, marine team and project personnel maintained strong operational coordination and HSE discipline to ensure all activities were carried out safely and in accordance with project requirements.

The successful completion of the campaign further reflects SHELL’s continued confidence in HELMS’ technical capability, operational reliability and project execution performance under its long-term Offshore Geotechnical Engineering Services contract.

Commenting on the achievement, Chief Operating Officer, Syahril Ikhwan said, “Safe and efficient execution remains one of the key priorities across all HELMS operations. Completing the SHELL campaign ahead of schedule is a reflection of the commitment, experience and teamwork demonstrated by both our offshore and onshore teams throughout the project.”

Following the successful completion of the campaign, HELMS will resume its back-to-back lineup of soil investigation campaigns for PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd (PCSB) to support the plug & abandonment works in Sarawak waters.

The achievement also comes as HELMS prepares for another important milestone with the upcoming launch of its latest DP2 geotechnical survey vessel, the Keyfield Itqan. The Malaysian-flagged vessel is equipped with a moonpool, 4-point mooring system, four positioning reference systems and HELMS’ latest HG-50 offshore geotechnical drilling rig, further strengthening HELMS’ expanding offshore geotechnical survey capabilities across the region.
